Zak S. mentioned that he thinks of cyclopses (cyclopi?) as sort of sad, and I think he’s right.  Here’s my two cyclopseses.  (OK, the dictionary says the plural is cyclopes!)

These two sad sacks are a Grenadier sculpt and the Heritage Models sculpt.

The Heritage guy had to have his club replaced (it broke off long ago).  The replacement is a little longer than the original.  The extremely pronounced veins freak me out a little, as they do when you see them on bodybuilders in real life.  So I highlighted them kind of pinkish and varicosy.  Maybe they’d look better bluish.

The Grenadier model came in a mythology themed box set.  The prominent ribs, slight potbelly, and cretinous face all make him kind of sad too.

The bag of skulls he carries for ammunition was a great idea.  Grenadier later replaced most of the figures in this set with different versions.  The “new” cyclops had a hook (actually I think it was bill-hook) fora hand so he was both one-handed and one-eyed, but I can’t find an image.

  1. Yeah, the Grenadier is kind of sad, but I still like him with his bag-o-skulls more than that uber canine toothed hulk of a body builder w/ club. These guys ARE kind of pathetic and dumb in my game (or would be if they ever came up that is), hence my vote. The Heritage seems to have quite a bump for a base, and the Grenadier none at all here..

I like the 25mm Dark Heaven version as a sort of compromise. But the Grendadier is pure old school for me.
