Signs and portents: Plinky

I warned you about “Blog Muse” some time back, and now my blog host has dipped its hands in the excrement of blogger-baiting too! And called it Plinky.

Again, I ask, seriously? Is the problem that we aren’t writing enough inane crap? There’s not enough uninspired crap online?

I am as guilty as anyone of posting crap that is interesting only to myself, but why would you create sophisticated tools to help people with nothing to say
write something…anything…just for the sake of adding to the information glut?

  1. Mike, have you signed up for Plinky? I see a lot of comments there from people who love the idea.

I will not go to the Plinky site
It’s not like I have trouble,
In finding things I have to write.

    • No, I looked at the site and the question of the day was something like “what was my biggest mistake” or something like that, and there appears to be a tool that does an image search to find pictures to use to enliven your posts too.
I just object on the grounds of being a curmudgeon and because I have like 15 drafts of posts “in the hopper” I’d like to finish some day, not to a list of mention things I want to write or finish writing for personal or professional or game reasons, and so I have ZERO sympathy for people who need to be prompted to come with something worth writing. Man, I’d love to have writers block for a while. For me it’s just a lack of time to write, usually.
I guess my point is, if you have nothing to say, it is ok to be quiet. Maybe I’d feel differently if I had writer’s block. But what in the name of the Dog Brothers is the big emergency to get another blog post up there?
I’ll tell you what it is. All those blog hosts that want more more more content so they get more more more hits so they get more ad revenue. Grrr.

  2. I had a quick scan of the site and, like you, thought who in the hell would want to read about things I had to be prompted into thinking worthwhile to publish on line.

For gods sake isn’t my dribble poor enough as it is, without it having to be about subjects I wouldn’t normally give a toss about.

Oh, and by the way it was something shocking but heart warming to find your post with the old minifig trolls, I thought they had all been converted to sinkers for fishing line

    regards
    fig
