Roman d12

I knew about the dXX, but I just found about an odd dXII via the Ancmed Yahoo Group (The Society of Ancients‘ Yahoo discussion list — the most erudite gaming-related group I know of).

There’s a little more info here about a similar and more complete dXII.

Someone at Ancmed suggested there could have been wooden ‘inserts’ with astrological symbols that fit into the holes.

  1. *sigh* Gaw! Now I’ll have to go out and spend too much time and money tracking down some d12’s with astrological symbols instead of numbers.

Seriously though, that dXII is pretty cool.

I’d get one if I were going to run Fantasy Wargaming but I can’t think of any other uses for a zodiac die off the top of my head. Maybe someone who is “into” Astrology could use one for quick NPC personalities or something.

  2. Honestly it’s not so much about having a use for it, so much as just having it.

I’ll think of something though. It’ll become a magical item if nothing else, a magical die the PCs find that does something useful, but always has a weird random side effect, roll for the side effect.

Oh look, they make one with planet symbols too.
