Old School Fantasy Miniatures APA

There is an amateur press association (APA) being formed by Scott Burnley which proposes to create a journal all about the classic fantasy miniatures of the past … Grenadier, Ral Partha, Dragontooth (recognize the logo above?), Heritage, Minifigs, pre-slotta Citadel … and so on.  The stuff made for D&D, Chainmail, and Runequest, (as well as sci-fi stuff like Galacta and Traveller etc.) — in short, all the pre-slotta base treasures from the 1970s and 1980s.

Email Scott at oldschoolfantasy (at) gmail (dot) com if you’d like to be involved!

More info is also posted at various miniatures Yahoo groups and the Acaeum.

The initial vision is of a print journal, but at this point things are still being discussed.

  1. Thanks for posting this. Very cool!

  2. Thanks for posting this article! I’m sending Scott an e-mail right now.

  3. Thanks Mike! It’s great to get more exposure for the OSFMapa to fans of the old stuff, and I really appreciate your support! I didn’t know that my initial appeal was also posted on Acaeum! That’s cool, too!

The Yahoo! Group has grown to 15, and its my hope that they will all choose to become members of the OSFMapa. I’ve always thought that if we could assemble at least 10 serious fans together in the APA, we will be successful in our endeavor to start producing valuable research (as well as dorkery) about these old miniatures and the artists that created them. We’re well on our way!

I hope your readers that are interested in reading more about what we’re doing will join the OSFMapa Yahoo! Group. There has been a ton of stuff posted there so far (most of it by me. my fingers are tired. and my head hurts.).

And Chad! I got your email! Look for the invite soon…

Thanks again! Love your blog! Keep up the good work!

  4. Oh Hell yeah. I just got in another lot of Heritage minis, mostly DD clerics and sorcerers, and was waxing enthusiatic again.

  5. Did anyone else send an email and not get an invite?

    • Matt,

Sorry about that! I don’t see your email in my mailbox.

Please send it again, and I’ll get your invite out right away. We would love to have you!

      Best,
      Scott Burnley
